I’m one of the co-founders of The More-Than-Human Book Club, which I co-run with Olivia “Lilly” Edward. As a drop-in group we default to meeting monthly at The Barbican Library, with editions also immersing in nature, and working with exhibitions and institutions to gather and talk about more-than-human experiences, wildness, and nature writing.
Running since November 2022, each month we curate a book, film, artwork, poem, or essay as a starting prompt and encourage our own nature encounters, then meet and discuss. Intended as a place of warmth, exploration, and discovery, community and connections are forged.
In 2023 we partnered with ‘RE/SISTERS’ exhibition at Barbican Centre, and in 2024 with The Writers’ Room as part of my residency and their public programme.
Past sessions have considered: ‘Modern Nature’ by Derek Jarman; Creation myths from around the world; ‘Slime’ by Susanne Wedlich; ‘Black Nature: African American Nature poetry’ ed. by Camille Dungy; ‘Fire of love’ dir. by Sara Dosa; ‘The Second Body’ by Daisy Hildyard, ‘The Living Mountain’ by Nan Shepherd.
